A Predator watches over the massacre of the Australian Classification Board

Here we go again. The Alien vs Predator video game being developed by Rebellion Studios has been refused classification in Australia. Why? Because it's violent. Oh yeah, and because there are scary Aliens and Predators that will get you when you sleep.

The OFLC has refused to classify the upcoming Alien vs Predator game under development by Rebellion Studios, due to the game being extremely violent. While not coming as a shock to most Aussies, the OFLC seems to be getting more and more inconsistent with their ratings.

Rebellion has come out and said in a recent statement, that they "refuse to edit their title for territories where adults are not considered by their governments to be able to make their own entertainment choices." Nicely said.

Here is a snippet from Rebellion's statement"

"Rebellion is disappointed that its upcoming title Aliens vs. Predator has been banned in Australia. However, as we understand the law in that country the authorities had no choice as we agree strongly that our game is not suitable for game players who are not adults."

"The content of AVP is based on some of the most innovative and iconic horror movies, and as such we wanted to create a title that was true to the source material. It is for adults, and it is bloody and frightening, that was our intent. We will not be releasing a sanitised or cut down version for territories where adults are not considered by their governments to be able to make their own entertainment choices."

So far, if nothing else changes, Alien vs Predator will not be released for sale in Australia. Shame, for it looks set to be a ripper of a title. Gamerz Ink will keep you up to date on Rebellion's appeal process with the OFLC. Stay tuned..
